Welcome to Tong Research Lab!

The research in our lab is currently focused on the Physics of Order in Soft Condensed Matter Systems, such as glassy materials (e.g., window and metallic glasses and their molten states, colloidal suspensions, granular packings, and spin and electron glasses) as well as active and bio systems (e.g., active matter constituted of natural cells or manmade self-propelled particles).

Combining statistical physics and computer simulations, we uncover the hidden order in the hierarchical structure of such complex systems, based on which we aim to build basic physical understandings of their unique nature, specifically, the peculiar mechanical, dynamical, as well as thermodynamical behaviors.
